Hot Keys - Full Moon EP
INFO :
French bastion of oddball house Karat offer up this EP from a fresh crew of Canucks, continuing the fine tradition of the groundwork laid by Akufen, The Mole and other such contemporaries. On "Boomer" there's a decisive boogie thread running through the squelchy synth lines, while the drums come in loose and swinging. "Full Moon Cycle" takes a deeper route, embellishing a raw live drum sound with tense layers of atmosphere, from pads to samples. It's "House Of Business" that really belies the Canadian roots of the crew though, as choppy keys, a clean beat and jazzy samples shuffle around each other with glee.
