Phil Weeks - In The Mood
INFO :
Phil Week's "In The Mood" track on Robsoul is a pretty hard standard to match. Original, funky and intelligent, it's the type of track that could only be passed on to someone with an equally intriguing musical vision to remix. That other someone is Phil Asher and he's come up with not one, but three different versions of the original. Keeping the chopped vocal appeal, housey rhythm and underground intelligence of the original, Asher's main mix simply plays with jazzy drops and muffled sounds, re-arranging the components into a blinding remix that competes with the original. On the flip, "Version 1" gets techno heavy by stripping away the funk and hardening the attitude while "Version 2" adds atmospheric spaces in between the beats with a warm and fresh bass adaptation. Amazing original and varied remixes, this is a killer effort from both Weeks and Asher.
